Learn English Through Listening and Writing

The third website that I'm going to share with you is http://www.listen-and-write.com/. When you click on the link given, you will see this page coming up from your laptop or computer screen:

This website allows learners to listen to news items and to do dictations. This simply means, students need to dictate and transcribe the reported news that have been intended for for reproduction in writing.

The activities prepared in this website has been broken up into small pieces, which enables lower level or younger learners to only write certain words in the gaps (do not need to transcribe all things, but only certain parts of the speech). There are also activities which require learners to words-by-words transcribing the news; more advanced learners to finish this activity.

Fantastically, this website is really manageable since learners can find which speech are suitable for them by just choosing the right level for themselves.
The levels can be chosen by just clicking on the tab in the red circle.
Besides, there are lots more other features in this website.

Advantages:
1. Students of all levels are suitable for this kind of activity because, the gap-filling-activity and recorded news are developed according to different levels.
2. This website is interesting since students can choose their preferred sources as well as their preferred topics; develop personalisation.
3. Develop students listening and writing skills at the same time.
4. Target English language learners can learn how to pronounce certain words correctly while listening to the native speaker's speech.
5. The listening materials can be repeated again and again as much as students like.
6. Encourage autonomous learning where students can always do this language exercise at home or teachers can make this activity as their homework.
7. There are hints and helps for learners.
8. Students are able to know their progress for every day or every week because their scores are saved in the website.
9. This website is FREE!

Disadvantages:
1. Facebook link can be a distraction to students. They might just open this listen-and-write website for a minute and log in to Facebook for an hour.
